Hello everyone! I recently had the opportunity to interview with PTC for the role of Product Analyst. I got this opportunity through an on-campus recruitment drive conducted at my college. During my preparation, I faced challenges in understanding the role and company, so I thought sharing my experience might help others prepare for similar opportunities.
Company Overview
PTC (Parametric Technology Corporation) is a global software company that provides technology solutions for digital transformation, including Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Augmented Reality (AR), and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). Founded in 1985 and headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, PTC serves industries like manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, and healthcare, helping businesses improve product design, engineering, and operations. Its key products include Creo (CAD), Windchill (PLM), ThingWorx (IIoT), and Vuforia (AR). PTC partners with major enterprises to drive innovation, improve efficiency, and accelerate digital strategies.
How I Received the Interview Call
I received the interview opportunity through an on-campus recruitment drive conducted at my college. After an initial screening, I was shortlisted for the subsequent rounds.
Recruitment Process Overview

Round 1: Online Aptitude Test
This round was conducted online and lasted for a specified duration. The test was divided into several sections, each focusing on different skill sets.
Topics Covered:
- Aptitude:Covered topics like Directions, Alphabet Patterns, Graphs, Diagrams, Percentages, etc.
- Java:Included code snippets and theory-based multiple-choice questions.
- SQL:Featured query-based and theory multiple-choice questions.
Difficulty Level:Medium
Key Question:

Round 2: Technical Interview 1
This round was conducted in-person at the PTC office and lasted for about 30-40 minutes. The panel consisted of two interviewers.
Topics Covered:
- Data Structures & Algorithms (DSA)
- Java
- SQL
- Linux
Key Questions:
- Why do you want to join this role despite having a strong development background? (They focused on this question for a long time.)
- Data Structures & Algorithms:
- What is a Stack?
- Explain Bubble Sort and its time complexity.
- Selection Sort uses which Algorithm Design Pattern?
- Merge Sort uses which Algorithm Design Pattern?
- The time complexity for different nested loop structures.
- How is DSA implemented in Java?
- Difference between HashMap and HashSet.
- Explain Collections Framework.
- What is the volatile keyword in Java?
- Different database keys.
- SQL query to find record by column value where column value contains spaces.
- What is the cat command?
- Command to move a file.
- Command to rename a file.
- Command to delete a file.
- How to handle file permissions in Linux.
- What is Saas?
Obstacles: With 60+ students in the process, their main focus was on Cloud, Java, and Linux. The interview difficulty was moderate to high. I was able to answer most of the questions except 1-2.
Round 3: Technical Interview 2
This round was supposed to be a technical round but turned into an HR discussion. It was conducted in-person at the PTC office and lasted for about 30-40 minutes. The panel consisted of one interviewer.
Key Questions:
- Why do you think you are well-suited for this role?
- You come from a development background. Why do you want this role? (The interviewer repeatedly asked this in different ways.)
- What were you doing after completing your post-graduation?
- Is it fair to leave your current job for new opportunities?
- If given a chance in a year, would you switch to development?
- How did you come to know about PTC? Since PTC isn’t widely known in technical fields.
- Do you have any questions for us?
Obstacles: I wasn't fully prepared for these types of questions, but my confidence and presence of mind helped me crack this round.
Round 4: Managerial Round (MR)
This round was conducted virtually and lasted for about 30-40 minutes.
Key Questions:
- What do you know about PTC? How does your qualification fit this role?
- Do you have any questions regarding the role?
- Tell me about your project (I mentioned RESTful APIs).
- You know REST APIs; what are the downsides of REST?
- Explain Exception Handling in Java.
- Do you want to ask anything?
Final Outcome:
This round went smoothly. Within 30 minutes of the interview, I received a call from the Hiring Manager, confirming positive feedback and informing me about the next steps.
Be confident and keep your mind calm—this will help you articulate your answers effectively, especially in the HR and MR rounds. Staying composed also enables you to handle situations where you might not know the exact answer but can still navigate the conversation smartly.
